SUMMARY:Lecture: France after the elections with Julien Audemard
DESCRIPTION:Following the two landmark elections, France’s political landscape is divided into three blocs: the left-green alliance as the surprising election winner, the right around the Rassemblement National with further growth even with high voter turnout, and the liberals around Macron, who have lost their majority.\nThe changed balance of power poses new challenges for the country.\nThere is great uncertainty about the ability of these three blocs to form a governing coalition, and the political space as a whole may be reconfigured.\nJulien Audemard will also discuss the end of the majority principle of the Fifth Republic and the consequences for political life and institutions, looking in particular at the specifics of right-wing extremism in France.\nJulien Audemard holds a doctorate in political science and conducts research at the Center for Political and Social Studies (CEPEL) at the University of Montpellier.\nHe focuses on electoral research and the impact of interpersonal relationships on voting and mobilization in elections. \n
