SUMMARY:Briefe gegen das Vergessen
DESCRIPTION:In October 1940, the Heidelberg Jewish couple Leopold and Rositta Oppenheimer and their son Hans were deported to the concentration camp in Gurs in southern France, like all Jews from Baden. After some time Hans came to work in a farm in the alpine region. Parents and son wrote letters to each other at least once a week for two years, describing their daily lives and their hardships and longings. Father and son were extradited to Germany at the end of 1942 and perished there; the mother survived. With her now not only the son’s letters have been preserved, but also those of the parents to Hans, since the farmer with whom he worked had kept them in a suitcase. Anton Ottmann, a member of the „Heidelberger Autorinnen und Autoren“ (Heidelberg Authors), has adapted this probably unique legacy of over 200 letters for a staged reading lasting about an hour, to which you are cordially invited. The event will be moderated by former member of the Bundestag Gert Weisskirchen.\nOrganizer\nKulturforum Südliche Bergstraße, Montpellier House\nFree entry\nRegistration\nNo registration required\nSaturday, April 1\n5 p.m. at Montpellier House, Kettengasse 19.\n \n
