The Montpellier House continues its series of lectures on museums in Occitania in collaboration with the Kurpfälzisches Museum: initially created from a private collection and housed in two 17th century patrician houses, the “Museum of Fine Arts” opened its doors to the public in 1833. Founded with a private collection, the museum has received state support since 1953 and a new name after the artist Hyacinthe Rigaud. The Gothic and Baroque periods of southern France are represented, but also works by Maillol, Picasso, Dufy and other Spanish emigrants after the Civil War. In 2017 the museum was restored.

The director Pascale Picard will present the building, the collection and exhibitions of her museum. Before coming to Perpignan, she directed museums in Avignon and Arles and curated numerous exhibitions on artists such as Ingres and Rodin in Arles and Picasso in Milan. In addition, she was engaged in the subject of photography.
