Lecture: Notre-Dame de Paris: Rediscovering the harmony of forces with Frederic Dubois

The “Notre-Dame scientific construction site” was an opportunity to take a closer look at an exceptional building, its history, how it works, the genius of its builders, etc.
Frédéric Dubois will present the role and restoration of the major structural elements, in particular the incredible wooden framework, known as the “forest” because it was made of a thousand oaks.
Frédéric Dubois, research engineer at the Laboratoire de Mécanique et Génie Civil (LMGC) in Montpellier, took part in the “Notre-Dame scientific construction site”, asked by the site manager of the restoration work to assess the stability of the cathedral’s high vaults.
