The arrival of Pietro, a deserter, upsets the family of the local teacher. During the four seasons that mark the end of the Second World War, Pietro and Lucia, the teacher’s eldest daughter, are instantly attracted to each other. Their marriage leads to an unexpected fate. While the world recovers from their tragedy, the family is confronted with their own.

Maura Delpero was born in Bolzano. Her first documentaries explored the boundary between fiction and non-fiction. Her feature film debut MATERNAL was presented at the Locarno Film Festival and won her – among other awards – the Kering Women in Motion Young Talent Award at the 73rd Cannes Film Festival. VERMIGLIO, her second feature film, won the Jury Prize in Venice and is Italy’s submission for the Foreign Oscar.
