FROM GROUND ZERO is a compilation of 22 short films by directors from Gaza. Shot between December 2023 and March 2024, the films, which are between three and six minutes long, capture individual perspectives on the current reality of war in Gaza. With a mix of genres including fiction, documentary, docu-fiction, animation and experimental cinema, FROM GROUND ZERO presents a variety of stories that reflect the grief, the will to survive, the joy and the hope inherent in life in Gaza.

Rashid Masharawi (*1962 in Ash-Shati near Gaza) is an internationally renowned Palestinian filmmaker from Gaza. He initiated the FROM GROUND ZERO project. Iris Neidhardt, the founder of mec film (Middle Eastern Cinemas), is a political scientist and publishes on topics such as cinema and the Middle East. The Friends of Arab Art and Culture e.V. explore the Arab worlds and their societies with a differentiated view. They focus on a transcultural dialog based on understanding and respect.
