Sinan, a young lieutenant in the Turkish army, is asked to hand over his brother Kenan to a military court. Burdened by the tragic death of their father, the two brothers embark on a journey through a country characterized by political unrest. As they grapple with their convictions, Sinan’s beliefs are put to the test on the night of the coup. In a country where the state demands absolute loyalty, the brothers must decide whether they are willing to make the sacrifices that their duty and conscience demand of them.

Türker Süer (*1976 in Cologne) studied screenwriting and directing at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne. His short films BRÜDER and DEM BESTEN ALLER VÄTER have screened at numerous festivals. SCHATTEN DER NACHT is his debut film and celebrated its premiere in Venice in the Orrizonti Extra section.
