Ángela is deaf; Héctor is hearing. They are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their daughter, Ona, but the closer the birth gets, the more Ángela’s worries grow. Will Ona be able to hear—and how can she navigate motherhood in a world that often excludes her? Ángela feels acutely how much she lives in a society that barely understands her needs, while Héctor only gradually comes to grasp the challenges of her perspective. *SORDA* sensitively explores love, barriers, and the challenges faced by deaf parents, as well as the hope of creating a shared world through mutual understanding.

Eva Libertad (born in Spain in 1978) studied sociology in Madrid and theater in Mexico and Argentina. As a writer and director, she often places overlooked realities of life at the center of her films. In *SORDA*, she explores deafness from a very personal perspective. The film won, among other awards, the Berlinale Audience Award and established Libertad as a prominent figure in European auteur cinema with her sensitive, precise style.
