Ariane is a young journalist who specializes in local crime cases. Unemployed for two years, she lives in seclusion in her apartment and avoids the outside world until one day she is invited by Sandrine, her best friend from the past, to her engagement party in the city forest.
So that she doesn’t get lost in the vast greenery, Sandrine shares her GPS location with her. Ariane makes it through the evening, but the next morning Sandrine has disappeared without a trace. All that remains of her is the red dot in the GPS, which keeps moving forward … and which Ariane can no longer take her eyes off.
The accumulation of pixels becomes an obsession for her, a vortex that sucks everything into itself. Until the dot suddenly stops. Lucie Rico, born in Perpignan in 1988, came to Heidelberg for a residency program in 2025, where she presented her first novel The Ballad of the Vacuum-Packed Chicken to an enthusiastic audience during the French Week.
