The film *Where the Wind Takes Us* by Amel Guellaty

The bubbly Alyssa and the reserved Mehdi are best friends with big dreams: she wants to make it big abroad, while he hopes to establish himself as an illustrator in Tunisia. When they hear about an art competition on the island of Djerba, they embark on a road trip that could change their lives. In her feature film debut, Amel Guellaty tells with playful ease the story of the vitality of a generation that is confronting the disappointing legacy of the Arab Spring with imagination, humor, and a talent for improvisation.

After graduating from ESRA Paris, Amel Guellaty began her career as a photographer before turning her attention to short films such as BLACK MAMBA (2017) and GIRLS FEELS: SKIN DEEP (2022), both of which were praised for their intimacy and warmth. That same sensibility also characterizes her feature film debut—it blends realism with reverie and captures Tunisia not as an idea, but as a living, breathing landscape.
