Charles Aubert: Danser encore

The boxer Johann Trollmann, known as “Rukeli”, is probably the best-known sportsman who belonged to the Sinti. In Charles Aubert’s novel Danser encore, Rukeli dreams of becoming a boxing champion. But what future does the young Sinto have in 1920s Germany? He wants to take his fate into his own hands and makes a name for himself from victory to victory.

He moves to Berlin when Hitler comes to power. Rukeli, who is observed and despised by the Nazis, refuses to emigrate to the USA and decides to stand up to the National Socialist regime.

Charles Aubert, a lawyer and political scientist, worked in senior positions in the insurance industry before moving to Montpellier and devoting himself entirely to writing
. He has now published four crime novels set on the coast near Montpellier. is his first historical novel.
