On May 13, just a few days after Europe Day, the Olympic Flame arrives in Montpellier. The Occitan city bears the “Terre de Jeux 2024” label as a stage on the long journey that will take this symbol of peace and unity from the ancient temples of Olympia to Paris. A great honor for them – and also for Europe, whose flag will fly over the venues in Paris for the first time. Bringing people closer together in a spirit of peace – this goal unites everyone and gives us the opportunity to celebrate together.
D’Olympie à Paris is also the title of Géraldine Elschner’s book, illustrated by Antoine Guilloppé and produced in collaboration with the Musée du Louvre. Guilloppé’s silhouette-like artistic play perfectly evokes the red and black athletes of ancient ceramics. A special picture book about art and sport, transcending time, European, but not only, Olympic and Paralympic at the same time. A beautiful artistic way to celebrate the start of the Olympic Games in France in Heidelberg!
