Marco Carrera, known as “the hummingbird”, falls in love with Luisa Lattes as a teenager during a vacation by the sea. Their love will remain unfulfilled, but will accompany Marco for the rest of his life. His story is characterized by loss and tragic coincidences, but also by his absolute love for a woman who will always remain a dream, and for his daughter and granddaughter. The film depicts Marco’s fate in a sophisticated way, skillfully interweaving memories and moving fluidly between time periods, from the early 1970s to the present day. Francesca Archibugi adapted the award-winning novel of the same name by Sandro Veronesi with a great ensemble of actors. The result is an unconventional, disarming and deeply touching family story, beautifully filmed by award-winning cinematographer Luca Bigazzi.
