Film Days of the Mediterranean: SHIKUN
38th Film Days of the Mediterranean 22.1. – 2.2.2025 Karlstorkino, Marlene-Dietrich-Platz 3, 69126 Heidelberg, admission €10, reduced €7.50, members Medienforum €6, advance ticket sales online: www.filmtage-mittelmeer.de or at the Karlstorkino (one hour before the first screening until the last film) or at the Montpellier-Haus (during opening hours). The film is inspired by the play “The Rhinos” by Eugène Ionesco and tells us about the emergence of intolerance and totalitarian thinking through a series of everyday episodes that take place in a social housing complex on the edge of the Be’er-Sheva desert in Israel. People of different backgrounds and languages, a cross-section of Israeli society, inhabit the SHIKUN building. Some of them will turn into rhinos, but others will resist. An ironic metaphor for life in our modern societies.
