FILM: KURU OTLAR ÜSTÜNE – ON DRY GRASSES
In his new film, auteur filmmaker Nuri Bilge Ceylan once again travels to the melancholy expanses of Anatolia and once again proves himself to be an outstanding portraitist and poet of world cinema. A young art teacher from Istanbul has been doing his job for four years.
Compulsory service in a remote village in Anatolia. He does his work conscientiously, but is just waiting for the desolation
the Turkish periphery as quickly as possible. After a series of events, however, hope fades
more and more – and the teacher reveals traits that show him to be a completely different person.
AUF TROCKEN GRÄSERN is visually impressive cinema, provocative and full of penetrating ideas.
