Montpellier-Haus, Kettengasse 19, Heidelberg, admission free
A day dedicated to poetry marks the end of a translation workshop lasting several days. As in autumn 2024 in Montpellier with texts by Jean Joubert (1928-2015), poets from both cities will meet from 17 to 20 March to pay tribute to the work of Hilde Domin (1909-2006) by translating her untranslated poems into French.
In the run-up to World Poetry Day on March 21, they will talk about their experiences and challenges in translating the poems of Jean Joubert and Hilde Domin. Hilde Domin is well known in Heidelberg; Jean Joubert was a poet and novelist from Montpellier, winner of the Prix Renaudot in 1975 for his novel L’homme de sable. He was a guest at the Heidelberg Literature Days in 2005.
With the support of the Deutsch-Französisches Kulturzentrum e.V., the Heidelberg-Haus in Montpellier, the Deutsch-Französischer Bürgerfonds and the State Ministry of Baden- Württemberg, financed by state funds approved by the Baden-Württemberg state parliament.
