Who hasn’t seen the many colorfully painted walls around town—or the “Heidelberg Pencil,” the chimney of the Heidelberg Public Utilities (the tallest enclosed work of art in Germany!)? We have the Metropolink Festival to thank for this street art, which will reach its climax in early August in Patrick-Henry-Village. Many artists from Montpellier took part, as the city in southern France is a hotbed of street art:
ZEST, NUBIAN, ENAER, CSS-JPG, ARKAN, SANCKOBLACK, LA FAHRENHEIT … They’ve all been here before and left their mark on the region. As it does every year, the Metropolink Festival (August 5–8, 2026) is taking to the streets—and this time, it’s offering a workshop on urban art for young people at the Montpellier House, led by an artist from Montpellier! This allows the artists to share their passion and expertise with the younger generations, and it’s a unique opportunity for children and teens to experiment with different techniques, whether with a paintbrush or a spray can.
The Montpellier artist selected by the festival will be announced at a later date.
In July; date to be announced
